Background

The Office of the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Mashonaland Central Province under the Office of the President and Cabinet, (OPC) was created to run the affairs of the Province in line with the devolution agenda. The Devolution and Decentralisation Policy elaborates on the Constitutional imperatives of bringing governance closer to communities and making it more accessible as a way of enhancing responsiveness, accountability, and participatory governance over local development priorities. Situated in the North-Eastern part of Zimbabwe, the province borders two countries; Mozambique and Zambia, and three provinces; Mashonaland East, Mashonaland West and Harare Metropolitan. The province has eight (8) districts and ten (10) local authorities with a total area of 28, 347km2 hectares and a total population of 1,384,891 (2022 Census). The Office of the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland Central Province is currently housed at Mutungagore Government Complex, 567 Thurlows Avenue, Bindura
